As from the name, the lake is pink, its colour is derived from dunaliala salina and halo bacteria

Adelaide was the first capital city in Australia to get a direct telegraph link with Europe which went into operation in 1872. Visit Cleland Wildlife Park and hold a koala. Visit the seaside town of Glenelg. Get free buses to tour around the city on the Beeline and City loop buses. Get off at City Sk8 skate park and watch the youngsters at work. Check the surrounding scenery - the scenic green hills and cut rocks on the roadside before you enter Adelaide. The hills are Mt Lofty Ranges

This is where there is a natural bird sanctuary exists for many birds, particularly the pelicans. Jacks Point is a ten minute walk to Pelican Observatory. The pelicans live on the island 140km across from here and can be viewed through free binoculars here. The lake is Coorong Lagoon which is a series of salt pans which were cut off from the sea by hummocks, a series of dunes

An hour and a half drive north from Adelaide, containing 67 wineries. This area has a bit of a German feel as the early settlers here were Germans and place names were in German which were later changed to Anglo names. If you stay here for a few days, you can hire a bicycle and cycle around the wineries. Dress up as schoolgirls (you do not have a choice!) and sample some wines in the schoolhouse!
Stop here for wine tasting for $3 (you will get $3 off if you buy wine) or just lie on the grass here, play footy while others are getting tipsy inside!
If you can find it, watch out for a sign telling you to stop here, switch engine off in neutral. It asks you will the vehicle roll down or up the hill. This is an optical illusion
There is a view from the mountains here if it is not packed. Around Orrorro, views are plentful: mountains, trees, even unusual and twisted trees. Flinders Ranges can be viewed here.
This place is inhabited mostly by Aborigines, stop at a playground and go on the swings! The town was used as a base for the film crew making Holy Smoke, directed by Jane Campion with Kate Winslet and Harvey Keitel
They run for over 480 kilometres into the outback. It was discovered in 1802 by Flinders and many Aborigine tribes lived there, though only few remain. Their art, over 7,000 years old, can be found in the caves and also Arkaroo Rock where there is a walking track for about 30 minutes up to the rock which was part of a cave
A small town with an official population of 5 people, you may wish to go on Aboriginal tour where you live with them for 2-3 days. Also, taste kangaroo steak and sausages and emu burgers
This natural basin is surrounded by steep cliffs, covering an area of around 100 square kilometers. To go through, there is a break in the cliffs at Sliding Rock. There are many walks here, marked by blue triangles. information here about Aboriginal culture and history with symbols and its meanings. Go on walking tracks in Wilpena Pound National Park. There is a few tracks here, one takes you up to the top where there is a view of Wilpena crater. One of the walks up takes about 1 hour and this track is named the Mt Olhaussen(?) track which takes you up to the Wangara Lookout giving you views of the area
This is an old railway town being an intersection point for the East-West and North-South railway lines. It was also part of the old Ghan Railway. Walk around the small village, visit the local shops, particularly the one selling antiques. You may end up talking to the shopkeeper - he has time for talking. There is a railway station where you can go on old trains for tours and statues of kangaroos on rocks
During the 1960s and the 70s, it was the centre of Australia's space industry where two satellites were launched into space from. A large part of the town is a restricted area as it is an active rocket testing site with of rockets, planes and missiles. Outside, you may spot a few giant rocks that you may mistake for the Uluru and there is a dried up lagoon.
After leaving Woomera, Lake Hart is a very salty lake with a railway track nearby. There is an ice-like crust with a thickness of about 2cm.

This long road from Darwin in the north to Port Augusta in the south, named after John McDougall Stuart who was the first person to cross Australia from sea to sea. Watch out for the animal crossing. Plant life may not be colourful here in this outback but you may spot some colourful flowers. The soil is very red
This little town is similar to a wild west town. Homes and buildings are built underground due to the hot weather. Go to the opalfields and look for opals in temperatures in the 30s! If you find gypsies, they are not worth much though there is a lot of these stones here. Some wacky (and perhaps rude) signs here such as the Keep off the grass sign where there is no grass. Due to the wildness of the town and the surrounding area, some films have been made here, such as Mad Max and Priscilla: Queen of the Desert

There is a lot of crazy stuff here - bras hangine up, statues of naked women, writing on walls, the toilets, the stuff outside
It is a model of a giant bucket hanging by a rope on the winch. At the base is an old winch damaged from the cyclone in 1986 and is a lookout for the city of Coober Pedy. The first tree of Coober Pedy is made of truck parts
There are two different stories. To Aborigines, the story is that one mound is a white dog, with the brown dog with the owner on the peak. To others, it may be salt and pepper
Watch the sunrise in the desert landscape of coloured mountains. A Dog Fence is nearby stretching for 5300 kilometres with its purpose of keeping dingoes in the north from the sheep in the south. Priscilla and Mad Max movies were filmed here
